I studied Arabic & Islamic Studies at SOAS before embarking on a freelance career in TV documentary development and production. After eight years, having worked my way from researcher to producer, I decided to pursue my love of history; I took a career break to return to university for an MA in Early Modern Studies.

Spending a year improving my skills as an historical researcher was a joy and I didn’t want it to end, so I decided to continue my academic research through a part-time PhD. Alongside my studies I still work in TV, but I’ve shifted my focus to archive producing and specialist historical research. I also undertake academic research work as a research assistant, transcribing early modern documents, contributing to academic projects and conducting library and archive visits for authors and fellow researchers.
